5 Tips to Get Your Home Ready for Fall

Fall means getting ready for more time spent in our homes.

September 10, 2022

Fall Cleaning? Who has heard of such a thing. Most likely it’s not the first thing on your priority list for the upcoming season, but it should be.

We have been outside all summer — basking in the sun at midday lunch with sumptuous fruits and veggies fresh from the yard, surrounded by summer flowers brightly shining their faces.

And now, in the very near future, orange and burgundy leaves will decorate out yards and streets, the air will give up its lazy humidity, and give way to clean and crisp breezes.

Fall means getting ready for more time in our homes, when the windows will be shut and the screens that let in the summer air will now be stowed away in the attic.

Do you see where I am going? It is time to make our homes ready for chilly evenings with a good book, stews bubbling on the stove, and cozy spots to snuggle and watch the latest on television show.

Need a few tips on making your home ready for the fall? You’re in the perfect place.

  1.  On the practical side, make sure furnace screens are sparkling and free of dust.
  2.  Get out your thick and soft throws to toss anywhere where someone will sit.
  3.  Replace the linen flowery printed pillow for faux fur, knitted wool or velvet if you dare.
  4. Have the windows washed inside and out, so the view of fall’s splendor is not dimmed by pesky rain spots.
  5. Use colors that are reflected in autumn such as burgundy, gold, claret, dark mossy green. These colors can be introduced into your home in pillows, vases, flowers, throws, art, wreaths, decorative rugs layered over big rugs.

We are certain you have your own tips on how to usher in the new season and would love to hear them all. Leave a comment and share your ideas. We can all learn from one another!
