Brighten Your Space for a Radiant Summer

It’s time to shed the remnants of winter and embrace the fresh air of June in our homes.

June 14, 2023

Welcome to June, the month of warmth, sunshine, and new beginnings. As we step into this time of the year, it’s hard to ignore the stark contrast between the bright outdoors and the lingering remnants of winter in our homes. The cozy corners, dark hues, and fluffy throws that once hugged us during the colder months now seem out of place during this vibrant season. It’s time for a change. Throw open those windows, shed the winter skin, and embrace the fresh air of June in your home.

Treat this miniature refresh just like you would while tackling an entire room redo. Make a plan! It’s just as easy to get yourself into a pickle with only replacing a few things, as it would be with redesigning an entire room.

Let’s say you fall head over heels for a throw pillow that seems to have been made just for you, only to realize it clashes with your sofa and rug. Then, you search high and low for a throw blanket to tie everything together, but come up empty-handed. You’re now in that pickle!

It’s time to roll up your sleeves and dive into research mode. You have to do your homework, just like we would recommend during an entire redesign. Getting your home into summer mode, without breaking the bank, is all about the prep-work to ensure the small changes are cohesive ones.

First place you’re going: Pinterest. Decide on the vibe you are looking to create. Find images on your favorite designers’ Pinterest boards and make a board with all your curated images in one place. Below are some ideas we’d go searching for:

  • Palm Beach
  • Laguna Beach
  • Miami Beach
  • Nantucket

Now that you’ve taken measurements, created mood boards, and gathered inspiration to give yourself a clear direction, you are ready to hit the road and shop! You’ll want to be looking for specific small pieces:

  • pillows
  • throws
  • accessories
  • art
  • window treatments
  • lamp shades
  • florals or botanicals

When it comes to introducing new pieces into your space, there’s no need to feel overwhelmed. Use your plan and add a few pieces at a time. By following your plan and taking it step by step, you can maintain a sense of organization and direction. This approach also allows you to observe how each new piece impacts the space, making it easier to adjust and refine your design choices along the way.

Then, relax and bask in your refreshed space. And while you’re at it, why not raise a glass and have a refreshing margarita to toast to your accomplishments? A delicious reminder to savor the sweetness of the season. Cheers to your summer-filled haven!
